Someone's confused on the whole "jurisdiction" concept... and insecure

Yahoo reports (and blogs like Moonbattery cover - but not the mass media, oh no, wouldn't want them to do their jobs) that New York City's Mayor Bloomberg, having solved all of Gotham's other problems, is now conducting anti-gun stings in... Arizona?

Yeah, that took a second for it to sink in for me too. No, we're not getting retarded - this is just so outlandish that any normal person would do a double-take upon reading this insanity.

Putting aside the ridiculousness of a New York City official conducting investigations in Arizona...

Putting aside the amazing immaturity of seeking a public-relations stunt while the city whose caretaking he's (ostensibly) charged with, is drowning in snow and uncollected garbage...

Putting aside the borderline illegality of conducting a sting operation without informing the state's Attorney General's office (which wasn't too happy with this little stunt, and moreover Bloomie's been verbally spanked about this before, when "U.S. Justice Department warned in a letter to City Hall that such civilian operations risk "legal liabilities" and can "unintentionally interrupt or jeopardize ongoing criminal investigations." (h/t Moonbattery)...

Oh hell, putting aside the REAL illegality of a government official having a group of people perjure themselves (BTW, what happened to all the Form 4473's they were supposed to fill and sign???)...

Putting aside Bloomberg's own admission that "most illegal guns in New York City are coming from states along the East Coast", i.e. this was nothing but a publicity stunt, oh wait, here's another quote from Hizzoner - "the rampage in Tucson would bring national attention to the investigation"...

Putting aside the inhumanity in exploiting the shooting of 9 people at the hands of a deranged lunatic for political gain...

I can't help but wonder, is there something in the Liberal Kool-Aid that makes people go out and totally overcompensate for their own insecurities by forcing upon others the things that make them worry? We're up to our necks with people who can't control some aspect of their own life and therefore feel the burning need (no, not that burning sensation, go see a doctor about that) to repress it for everyone else?

Michelle O's apparent unhappiness with her weight seems to have launched a crusade against fattening foods... Bloomberg has made salt into the 2010 version of John Dillinger - and now it's guns, nevermind that NYC already has some of the toughest gun laws in the country... A demented garden of intolerant gnomes has sprung up on every mass media channel, crucifying (at least verbally... for now) anyone who disagrees with them, while extolling a "tone of civility"... The examples are countless.

I have a suggestion for our illustrious Mayor.

Stop freaking out about salt and guns, and DO YOUR JOB. Get the public-service unions under control, get MTA to stop hemorrhaging money on bullshit, collect the garbage already, and figure out something about the city budget. Oh yeah, "the rent is too damn high". Thank you, Jimmy McMillan.

Dereliction of Duty

So, the Middle East is spiraling into chaos (what else is new?), a repeat of the 1970's mess is threatening to repeat itself, and what's our beloved President doing?

Watching basketball and attending a party.

Of course, as some folks pointed out, you wouldn't know it from watching the mass-media channels, but it's like the liberals just plum forget about the existence of the Internet... As of this writing, the story is all over the blogosphere (the original Fox News report has 21,000 related articles according to Google). Stunning silence from NYC / ABC / MSNBC / CNN in 5... 4... 3...

Not everyone is silent, however. Liberal Propaganda Matters is already "on the case" with their usual well-thought-out, carefully balanced, non-partisan defense of the President's actions.

...but then again, what else can we expect from a President who didn't even respond to the Gulf Oil crisis for 9 days? Apparently, golfing vacations take precedence over, um, IDK, doing your job?

Target & Crosshairs: For Left-Wing Use ONLY

So folks on the left go completely apeshit over a SarahPAC map using symbols that could be / look like / somewhat resemble / maybe-possibly-nobody-knows-for-sure have something in common with target symbols, and she's the root of all evil & the cause of the latest deep freeze & the AIDS pandemic... also, she ran over your dog. Or something.

Yet when Chris Matthews uses an obvious target symbol, complete with cross-hairs added for emphasis, and the tagline "Fire On" - everyone just loses their powers of speech.

Nope, there's no media bias whatsoever.

Source: http://www.hapblog.com/2011/01/why-is-chris-matthews-displaying-target.html

...and we're back!

After a prolonged absence, we're picking up posting on this blog again.

Please, keep the applause down, we don't want to wake the neighbors. Thanks.

Isn't it ironic, don't you think?

Chris Smith pointed out that it's just a little "strange" that the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner (Obama) just hosted a lavish state dinner for the president of the country that's holding the 2010 Nobel Peace prize winner as a political prisoner.

Oh, such interesting times we live in...

Ben Nelson, D-Nebraska, sells out to ObamaCare

Why "sells out"?

Well, because Nelson held up the process under the guise of having issues with certain language in the bill related to abortion - but changed his mind as soon as he was promised a bribe of federal funds for Nebraska "to help cope with the crippling costs" of ObamaCare.

Congratulations, Senator Nelson! You have now joined the illustrious ranks of political whores. Step right up and claim your rightful place alongside "Nanny" Pelosi and Mary Landrieu.

Why do these politicians think that the American people are so goddamn stupid that we can't see through this BS?

Bonus:

Response from a doctor in Nebraska:

Dear Senator Nelson:

I send this message under “Tort Reform” because the current monstrosity you have pledged your support to says nothing whatsoever about Tort Reform. You have sold the physicians of Nebraska for zilch (zilch for us, but beaucoup federal bucks for you and the liberal partisans in this state). As a family practice physician in Small Town, Nebraska, I was counting on you to be the lone voice of Democratic sanity on this issue, but you sold me out. I will dedicate every spare minute of my time and every spare dollar I have to defeating you, should you run for re-election.

The long hours I spent on my medical education and the long hours I spend treating my patients are nothing but chump change to you and your Democrat colleagues in Washington. I especially can’t wait for your equivocation and milquetoast evasion when your “compromises” on the abortion language in the bill are silently erased or quietly (on-little-legislative-cat’s-feet) eviscerated in the House/Senate give-and-take. Go on: Bet me that you won’t wuss-out on this issue!

I know you won’t give two-seconds to this letter, but I had to write it. I’m a primary care doctor in YOUR state, and you sold me out. I didn’t slog through 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency just to have you hand my career and my patient/doctor relationships over to government lifers. Your gutless acquiescence to Obama and Harry Reid and ‘Nanny’ Pelosi will NOT be forgotten.

Thank you, Ben, for forcing doctors like me to earn less than the repairmen who fix our appliances. Case in point: We recently had our dishwasher fixed. The repairman who came to our house charged $65 just to come and ‘diagnose’ the problem, then charged another $180 to ‘fix’ the problem. You and your fellow lawmakers have fixed MY going rate (Medicare) at $35 per-visit. Thank you for securing such a ‘lucrative’ rate for me! Thank you so much for making me–someone with 8 years of education!–make less than a mechanic or appliance repair technichian. And thanks especially for falling in line with Obama and the rest of the Democrats to make such a socialist system permanent.

You have my disgust and disdain forever, you socialist-coddling coward.

Sincerely,
Becky F. Hollibaugh, D.O.

St. Louis County Officials Refuse To Prosecute SEIU Thugs

Andrew Breitbart's BigGovernment brings us a followup to the story of Kenneth Gladney, the black man beaten up by SEIU union thugs at a townhall meeting, for the heinous crime of "being anti-Obama while black".

Long story short: On August 6th, Kenneth Gladney was beaten by SEIU members outraged over a black man selling freedom flags and buttons, and ended up in the hospital.

Winston Churchill and Mary Landrieu

American Thinker brings us this little oeuvre of humor in regards to the Mary Landrieu vote-whoring...

Reports that Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu sold her vote to bring the Senate health scare bill to the floor for $300 million are reminiscent of an apocryphal tale told of Winston Churchill and Lady Astor.

"Would you sleep with me for a million dollars," Churchill asks.

"A million dollars?" says Lady Astor. "Why, sure."

"How about a dollar?"

"Why I never," Lady Astor huffs. "What do you take me for?"

"That, my dear," says Sir Winston, "has been established. We are just negotiating price."

Senator Landrieu's honor has been established. Obama, Reid and Pelosi just had to haggle over the price.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Jesse Jackson, yet again

Adding to the long litany of race-obsessed remarks by His Excellency The Right Honorable Reverend Jesse Jackson, here's the latest gem...

November 18, 2009 - Jackson chastises Representative Artur Davis (D-Alabama) for voting "No" on the state-rationed healthcare bill.

Witness the eloquence:

We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill. You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.

Excuse me, Reverend... what the fuck is that supposed to mean? You have to vote according to the color of your skin, rather than your conscience?

Well, it's not my place to make assumptions about another man's mind; suffice it to say that this is strongly reminiscent of every other Jackson quote our favorite tax fraud's comment that blacks should only vote for other blacks.

Davis' subtly sarcastic reply:

"One of the reasons that I like and admire Rev. Jesse Jackson is that 21 years ago he inspired the idea that a black politician would not be judged simply as a black leader" ... "The best way to honor Rev. Jackson’s legacy is to decline to engage in an argument with him that begins and ends with race."

Isn't it great that we've finally reached the glittering Post-Racial Age (as per Post-Racial President Obama), where men (and women) co-exist in peace and harmony regardless of their skin tone?

Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colorado) takes up Nancy Pelosi's torch

This item on CNN caught my attention. Seems that someone's desperate for publicity...

According to the CNN quote, Freshman Democrat Senator Michael Bennet said on Sunday (11/22/2009) that he will support his party’s efforts to pass health care reform legislation even if that means losing his seat in next year’s midterm elections.

CNN's John King: "If you get to the final point and you are a critical vote for health care reform and every piece of evidence tells you if you support the bill you will lose your job, would you cast the vote and lose your job?"

Michael Bennet: "Yes"

Hmm.

Wasn't too long ago that Nancy Pelosi claimed that she's "prepared to lose seats in 2010 if that's what it takes to pass ObamaCare."

Seems that some Democrats have been drinking the Kool-Aid, indeed.

Mary Landrieu keeps the proud Louisiana tradition of political corruption alive

William A. Jacobson over at Legal Insurrection brings to our attention Mary Landrieu's comment regarding the $ 100 million (or is it $ 300 million?) payoff to secure her vote on the healthcare bill.

According to Roll Call, Landrieu said the following when confronted with the issue:

"I will correct something. It’s not $100 million, it’s $300 million, and I’m proud of it and will keep fighting for it"

How are you going to "keep fighting for it", Mary, if not with the continued support of the bill?

Brings to mind the former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards' famous justification for accepting bribes: "It was illegal for them to give, but not for me to receive."

In other words, I'll take a bribe, I'm proud of it, and screw you little people.

Politicians using taxpayers' money to bribe other politicians to screw the taxpayers some more. Welcome to American Politics 2009.
